So, 34 years in a few paragraphs. That's a bit rough, but here goes. I was born in Oak Park, Illinois, son of a
math teacher and pediatric nurse. I quickly headed south to New Mexico, where we settled in lovely Albuquerque.
I quickly became enamored with machines, first some crazy computer that used cassettes when I was 10, then the Apple II,
IIgs, the Atari 2400, then the legendary Nintendo system. Excitebike soon filled my days. This fascination with other worlds
then developed into the BBS, and then the MUD, or multi-user dungeon. These text-based locations was the first instances of the internet,
where people could gather from anywhere in the world. I soon went from playing said MUD worlds to creating them.
Then, during my time at the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana to study Painting, I discovered the internet.
Mind you, I did not invent the internet. I was merely nearby while the cornerstones of it, such as the first browser,
came to be during my days amongst corn fields.
Then came CD-ROMS, leading to my first job designing interfaces with Adobe software working with Macromedia Director. Then came the first versions of Flash, and my love of animation
took over. I spent the first few years producing interactive experiences, moving
between small shops until being invited to join OgilvyOne. This background has helped keep my ideas informed and grounded in reality. Mostly.
Today I live in the north side of Chicago with my wife and daughter. Love the Cubs, design, art, especially painting, the crazy interwebs, a lot of different music, and smart people to tell my bad jokes to.
